Maryland Irish Festival Celebrates 50th Year at Timonium Fairgrounds
Get ready to experience a half-century of Irish heritage as the Maryland Irish Festival celebrates its 50th anniversary on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Lutherville-Timonium. Hosted by Irish Charities of Maryland, this milestone celebration promises to be a lively showcase of Irish culture, featuring music, dance, traditional cuisine, vendors, and more. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., but the festivities span the entire weekend, making it a perfect time to embrace your Irish roots or simply enjoy the culture’s vibrant traditions.
The 50th Annual Maryland Irish Festival runs from Friday, November 8 to Sunday, November 10, 2024. Over these three days, guests can immerse themselves in an array of Irish experiences—everything from traditional Celtic music to world-class Irish dance performances. Vendors will offer handcrafted Irish goods, while food stalls will serve iconic Irish dishes like shepherd’s pie, corned beef, and bangers and mash. And, of course, it wouldn’t be an Irish festival without a drink in hand—Guinness and Tullamore D.E.W. are proud sponsors, ensuring festival-goers have plenty of authentic Irish libations.
This year's event holds special significance as the festival marks its golden anniversary. Since its inception in 1974, the Maryland Irish Festival has grown into one of the largest celebrations of Irish culture in the region. It has continued to stay true to its mission, presented by the 501(c)(3) charitable organization Irish Charities of Maryland, which supports numerous local charities and causes throughout the state.
Sunday’s festivities begin with a Catholic Mass at 10:30 a.m., followed by a full day of cultural events, including live performances by both local and international Irish musicians. Whether you’re coming for the foot-stomping reels, the lively jigs, or the soulful ballads, there’s something for everyone. Attendees can also enjoy interactive exhibits and educational displays about Irish history and contributions to American society.
The Maryland Irish Festival is a family-friendly event with activities for all ages. Children can enjoy dedicated areas for crafts and games, while adults take part in whiskey tastings and other more mature offerings.
