The group stage is over. The upsets have been glorious. The brackets are chaos. And now, the real tournament begins.
Here is the thing about the expanded 48-team World Cup. Everyone assumed it would be bloated. More teams, more meaningless games, more fatigue. Instead, we got history. Powerhouses stumbling. Underdogs refusing to fold. A bracket that looks like someone shook a snow globe and called it a draw.
Now the knockout round is here. Win or go home. No second chances. No easy paths. Just 90 minutes (plus stoppage time) of pure, unadulterated tension.
And you have options. Do not waste them.
Saturday, June 27 – The Last Call
The group stage closes with a stacked slate. England vs. Panama. Portugal vs. Colombia. Argentina vs. Jordan. Six matches across FOX and FS1, starting at 5 PM and running until late. Watch them all. Or pick the one that matters most to you. Just do not pretend you have plans.
Sunday, June 28 – The Knockouts Arrive
South Africa vs. Canada kicks off the Round of 32 at 12 PM ET on FOX. This is not a friendly. This is elimination. The winner moves on. The loser goes home. That is the energy you want.
Monday, June 29
Brazil opens the day at 10 AM ET on FOX. Germany follows at 1:30 PM. Netherlands vs. Morocco closes the evening at 6 PM. Three matches. Three continents. Zero excuses to leave your desk.
Tuesday, June 30
Ivory Coast vs. Norway at 10 AM. France vs. a 3rd place team at 2 PM. Mexico vs. a 3rd place team at 6 PM. All on FOX. Set your calendar alerts now.
Wednesday, July 1 – The Big One
USA vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina. 5 PM ET on FOX. Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The U.S. has been on the West Coast all tournament—Los Angeles, Seattle, now the Bay Area. Bosnia is a tough draw, but the Americans have home-field advantage in the stands if not on the field. If you can be in front of a screen with a crowd, that is where you need to be.
Before that, two other knockout matches kick off at 9 AM and 1 PM. The day is a marathon. Plan accordingly.
The National Mall Fan Zone
Between 3rd and 4th Streets NW, a massive Jumbotron stands against the backdrop of the U.S. Capitol. It is free. It is open to all ages. And it runs through July 19. Gates open one hour before the first match of the day. Late games? They stay open until 1 AM.
Security check: Pack light. Small clutch purses (10" x 6" x 2") are fine. Larger bags must be clear and limited to 12" x 6" x 12". No food, water bottles, umbrellas, strollers, bikes, or aerosols (including bug spray). Food and alcohol are available for purchase on-site. RSVP is encouraged.
The Wharf – Pearl Street Watch Zone
A 14-foot Jumbotron on Pearl Street SW. Free. Outdoor. Rain or shine. The official watch party for the USA game on July 1 kicks off at 6 PM. Extended hours for USA matches. Waterfront views. Good energy. Do not arrive late.
