ArtRave DC celebrates its 19th season at historic Dupont Circle location

WASHINGTON, D.C. – For nearly two decades, ArtRave DC has transformed a busy Dupont Circle intersection into a vibrant open-air gallery, and this spring the beloved artisan market kicks off its 19th season at 1913 Massachusetts Ave. NW — the PNC bank building grounds at the corner of Connecticut Avenue.

Since its founding, ArtRave has grown into one of the district’s most celebrated artisan experiences, curating a rotating lineup of local creators, makers, and visionaries. The twice-monthly market brings together fine artists, fashion designers, handcrafted jewelers, leather workers, woodcrafters, gourmet food vendors, and even bonsai tree growers. Shoppers can expect everything from original paintings and repurposed clothing to handmade candles, goat's milk soaps, roasted nuts, jams, and honey.

Over the years, ArtRave has become a signature fixture at its Dupont Circle location, just steps from the Dupont Circle Metro station. The market has also expanded into larger specialty events, including Embassy Day collaborations, Art All Night, and a holiday Christmas Extravaganza that draws thousands of shoppers each year.

Man on the street: a vendor’s perspective

Having worked with ArtRave’s management as an exhibitor in the past, I found them straightforward and easy to work with. Unlike some markets where communication can be murky or rules seem to change at the last minute, ArtRave’s team was clear about setup, expectations, and logistics — a small kindness that makes a big difference when you’re hauling a booth and inventory across town.

That sentiment appears to be shared. The market has maintained a loyal following of returning vendors and shoppers alike, with organizers actively accepting new artisan applications for the upcoming season.

More than just a market

ArtRave describes itself as "a dynamic organization dedicated to curating vibrant artisan and cultural events throughout Washington, DC neighborhoods". The group has been building toward an indoor cultural space in the 14th Street Corridor, aiming to expand its programming beyond the open-air format.

For now, the Dupont Circle market remains the heart of the operation. The 19th season kicks off with the same formula that has worked for 18 years: local creators, community vibes, and a whole lot of handmade and heartfelt goods.
