You have heard her with Chris Botti. You have heard her with Snarky Puppy. Now hear why she is one of the most sought-after vocalists in the business.

On Wednesday, August 5 at 7:30 PM, vocalist Shayna Steele takes the Gudelsky Gazebo Stage as part of Strathmore's free "Live from the Lawn" summer concert series. The performance is the next-to-last show of the season before the annual UkeFest Finale on August 12.

Who Is Shayna Steele?

Steele is a dynamic vocalist who defies easy categorization. Her work spans soul, jazz, blues, rock, and Broadway, blending them into a sound that is both powerful and intimate. Her stage presence is commanding, and her vocal range is stunning.

She has appeared on Broadway in productions like Rent and the revival of Jesus Christ Superstar. She was also part of the original cast of Hairspray. Her voice has been featured alongside Grammy-winning artists, including trumpeter Chris Botti, and she was a featured vocalist on Snarky Puppy’s acclaimed album Family Dinner – Volume 1.

Steele holds a music degree from the prestigious Berklee College of Music where she maintained a 3.95 GPA. She has released multiple albums, with her 2015 release RISE reaching #2 on the U.S. charts.

What to Expect at the Concert

For this special outdoor performance, Steele will reinterpret mid-century L.A. jazz and blues. It is a style shaped by crossover influences that she delivers with a supremely soulful energy. Expect a set that showcases her mind-blowing vocal artistry, spanning soul, gospel, retro R&B, and jazz.

The concert is part of Strathmore's "Live from the Lawn" series, which turns the grounds of the Music Center into a community gathering space. The show is free and open to the public.
