Image

The week is only just beginning, and we are here to tell you that Fort Totten is where it is happening. Every Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, The Modern at Art Place (400 Galloway Street NE) transforms into a pop-up community block party. Free music. Rotating local eats. And the kind of neighborhood energy that turns a Friday night into something you actually look forward to.

The Music: Who Is Playing

The 2026 season runs through August 28, with a bonus finale on September 4. Here is the lineup you do not want to miss:

  • July 17 – Justin Trawick: A Virginia native and singer‑songwriter with a wide range of styles, Trawick has been a fixture on the East Coast scene since 2006. Expect folk, rock, and an engaging live show.
  • July 24 – Love Joy Group: This versatile ensemble serves up energetic jazz with American songbook favorites, funky blues, and smooth Latin rhythms.
  • August 21 – Fearless Eras: A Taylor Swift tribute that delivers the full Eras experience.
  • August 28 – La Unica: Bringing an Irish-Latin party vibe to close out the main season.
  • September 4 – Ahzay and the Squad: The grand finale wraps up the series with high-energy R&B and pop.

Note: The July 3 concert was canceled due to extreme heat. Follow @artplacedc on Instagram for real‑time weather and lineup updates.

The Flavor: Riggs Park Farmers Market Partnership

New this season, the series has partnered with the Riggs Park Farmers Market to bring even more community programming to The Modern. Each week, you will find a rotating selection of local food vendors:

  • Sweet and Salty Bakery – fresh baked treats
  • Rinconcito Maya – Guate-Mex street food
  • Ileria Farms – fresh produce
  • Fritters and Roast LLC – savory bites
  • Pressed Essentials – cold‑pressed juices and more

Vendors vary weekly, so each visit offers something new.
