Double Feature Tonight: Jesse & Joy and Kanysha at Strathmore

The Hub of Montgomery County Arts: An Overview

Strathmore is a 16-acre multidisciplinary arts campus in North Bethesda. It is also, depending on who you ask, the best argument for leaving your house on a Wednesday night. The campus offers a dual-energy lineup tonight: massive Latin pop in the modern Concert Hall and intimate, soulful storytelling in the historic Mansion. Pick your poison. Or, if you are ambitious, pick both.

Headliner: Jesse & Joy Live in the Concert Hall

Artist Profile:

Jesse & Joy are a brother-and-sister pop-folk duo who have somehow managed to not kill each other after nearly two decades of touring together. They have six Latin Grammy Awards and more than 12 billion streams worldwide. That is not a typo. Billion with a B.

Their sound is a seamless blend of pop, rock, folk, norteño, and cumbia. They have performed in front of 100,000 people in Mexico City's Zócalo plaza. They have commanded stages at Coachella. And tonight, they are playing a 1,976-seat theater.

The Tour Context:

The El Despecho U.S. tour follows a string of sold-out shows across Latin America. The setlist is a minefield of streaming giants and radio staples: "Espacio Sideral," "Corre!" (which took home both Song and Record of the Year at the Latin Grammys), and the sweeping ballads that cemented their status as Latin pop royalty.

Logistics & Tickets:

  • Time & Venue: 8:00 PM at The Music Center at Strathmore
  • Tickets: Last-minute booking available here.

Spotlight: Artist in Residence Kanysha at The Mansion

The Artist in Residence (AIR) Showcase:

Kanysha Williams is a vocalist and songwriter, part of Strathmore's prestigious AIR Class of 2026 cohort. She is a DC native, raised in Prince George's County, and trained at Duke Ellington School of the Arts. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and nearly every major theater in DC.

Tonight's Event: "Live from the Vault: Kanysha Unarchived"

  • Time & Venue: 7:30 PM in the cozy music room at The Mansion at Strathmore
  • The Show Concept: An intimate "behind-the-music" style concert where she opens her vault to share unreleased original tracks alongside the reimagined covers that inspired them
  • Musical Style: A genre-bending fusion of R&B, alternative, funk, and soul
  • Tickets: Last minute tickets available here.

Why You Should Care:

This is not a polished, over-rehearsed stadium show. This is a singer-songwriter letting you into her creative process. The songs that almost stayed silent. The covers that shaped her. The raw, unfiltered version of an artist who is still figuring it out in real time.

In the Galleries: Art & Atmosphere at The Mansion

Fine Art on Display:

The Mansion Galleries are running free-admission fine art exhibitions concurrently before the music starts. The current exhibition, "Intersections," features artists Breanna Cee Martins and Steven Luu exploring ancestral memory and trauma. The opening reception was May 14 with an artist talk.

The Campus Vibe:

Finding food and drinks nearby is easy. Strathmore has its own café, or you can walk to nearby restaurants in North Bethesda. Or, bring a picnic and enjoy an early evening walk through the outdoor sculpture garden.

Look Ahead: Upcoming Highlights at the Music Center

Jazz & Instrumental Greats:

Trumpeter Chris Botti performs this Friday night, June 26 at 8:00 PM. He is the largest-selling American instrumental artist, with multiple Gold, Platinum and Grammy Awards. His tone is unmistakable, and his live shows are legendary.

Symphonic Evenings:

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra returns to Strathmore this summer as part of SummerFest 2026. Upcoming dates include a performance of "Brilliant Beginnings: Mozart & Beethoven" on Sunday, July 12 at 3:00 PM and the orchestra's annual two-day Gala Celebration on Sept. 25 at Strathmore.

The Bottom Line

Two stages. Two very different vibes. One campus.

Jesse & Joy in the Concert Hall. Kanysha in the Mansion. Art in the galleries. And a sculpture garden waiting for you to wander through it.

Pick one. Pick both. Enjoy.
